Statewide South Texas Weekend

Registration opens to all SOTW members August 6

The focus of the Statewide Conservation Committee South Texas Weekend is conservation education, witnessing the natural beauty of the South Texas Plains and the Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes landscape and wildlife firsthand, and getting to know other conservation-minded Stewards of the Wild members! We will hear from conservation experts throughout the weekend focused on an array of land, water, and wildlife issues; explore the vast region; and hopefully see a multitude of unique plant and wildlife species.

Our planned excursions for the weekend are below, and a detailed agenda will be provided to all registrants ahead of the trip. Many of you may have visited South Texas before, but we promise this weekend will be full of exceptional, unforgettable experiences. Because Stewards of the Wild is a program of Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation, we are uniquely positioned with exclusive access to private lands and to learn from the best experts and resources Texas has to offer! This weekend will include: 

• Private wildlife tour of the famous King Ranch
• Full morning on the water exploring the bays and Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program's conservation work with Bird Program Director David Newstead
• A special visit to Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute (CKWRI), including a look into ongoing research and a tour of its brand new Ocelot facility
• Guided exploration of the Welder Wildlife Foundation Refuge
• And more!

Registration includes three nights of lodging at the Welder Wildlife Refuge, all meals, and transportation to all excursions. Lodging is air-conditioned/heated "bunkhouse lodging" with twin beds and shared facilities (separated by men and women). 

Cancellation Policy: Cancel 4 weeks in advance of event, receive a full refund. Cancel 2-4 weeks in advance of event, receive 50% refund. Cancel less than 2 weeks in advance of event, receive no refund.
